Dear Rami, I have worked for a long time on this topic and, as usual, nothing is black and white but mostly grey. There is a huge difference between assimilation and adaptation. If one looks within European culture (I am a Dutch citizen living in Hungary) there is ample space to be culturally different, however, there are norms which are fundamentally different and to which anyone immigrating will have to adapt in order to be not in conflict with one's host. In 2015 I started my www.docs.refival project in order to integrate (= adaptation) refugees in the rural areas of Europe, where both the synergy and the interaction would be simpler to achieve as in the big (and expensive) cities (there are not many but very successful examples of this approach). Unfortunately the developments are going in the opposite direction by the fortification of Europe. Meanwhile I think that the problem is not only migration (see: www.thefutureofmigration.com) but also a general lack of dialog between people (www.dialog.builders)
