Hamas' ideology will only be removed when the ordinary civilians on both sides enter into non-violent interaction with each other as equals, and develop reciprocal empathy. Solely this mechanism converts fear and hatred by trust and solidarity and fundamentally solves a conflict, generating sustainable peace. Even if Israel would fully cleanse its territory from all Palestinians, there would be a new Hamas in a decade or so outside. Since Gaza has been carpet bombed and chances on a two-state solution have become minimal, indirectly Netanyahu bombed the Jewish state and only a one-state solution with equal rights remains. This does not necessarily have to be a threat to any cultural identity, if one would localize democracy in smaller communities, the country could be managed as a confederation of such communities. This way people can coexist like in the days of Canaan.
